How to publish SCORM content in Abobe Captivate

SCORM Preferences

To begin click “Edit”, and select “Preferences” which is the final option in the menu.

In “Preferences” you will see some options. Go to Quiz-Reporting Options. This is where we set the information that we want the SCORM file to send back to Travitor.

At the top of the Preferences box you will then notice a checkbox for “Quiz, Enable reporting for this project”. You will need to tick this option to use this SCORM with Travitor

There are also some other options here:

LMS – This is the place where you will be publishing your content to, choose “Other Standard LMSs”

Standard – This is the version that your SCORM will be published in. Travitor uses SCORM version 2004 because it provides more detail than 1.2. Choose this option from the drop down menu.

"Status" and "Success Completion Criteria" – These sections are what determines the user as Passed/Complete for the SCORM output.  Choose Slides if you just need them to view slides, and choose Quiz options if passing a quiz is required.

Data to Report – This section tells sending data back to Travitor.

  • Quiz Score: This can either be sent back as a percentage or in points format.
  • Interaction Data: Send details of any interactions your user makes with the SCORM back to Travitor such as the total time spent on the course. We would recommend that this setting is used.

Also located in Preferences box you will find settings on your Quiz scoring, slide durations, styling options and more so be sure to go through these settings also choosing which apply to your course. When you have finished applying these settings you are ready to Publish your course.

Publishing the SCORM

To Publish your SCORM, from “File” go to “Publish”.

Publish as: When publishing a SCORM which will be used on a browser (e.g. Internet Explorer, Firefox, Chrome or Safari) we will always use the HTML5 output (SWF is Flash-based, which is disabled by default on most browsers).

Project Title: Give your project a title.
Location: This is the location which you would like to store your file. Browse to the location where you would like it saved.

Zip File/ Publish to Folder: Here you should check the box beside “ZIP file” to publish to a ZIP. This can then be loaded into Travitor.

Output Format: Here you should choose to publish your SCORM as HTML5

Full Screen: This opens the file in full screen mode. You can’t apply this option if you select SCORM options for the project so leave this setting unticked.

Export PDF: The generated SCORM file is also inserted into a PDF file and published. This option is useful to share content over email or any other means where the learner doesn’t have access to the content through the Flash Player in a browser.

Force Republish of all Slides: Enabling this option will republish all slides each time you make a change, even to just one of the slide.

Scalable HTML Content: Enabling this option will resize the SCORM to the size of your users browser window, while keeping it in proportion, this is recommended.

Seamless Tabbing: Allows users to seamlessly tab through the content, and browser controls. This option is applicable only for Internet Explorer.

Flash Player Version: Adobe Captivate generates the Flash (SWF) file in the Flash version that you choose.

The Project Information area displays useful statistics about the project including the size (resolution), number of slides, audio information, e-learning details, accessibility compliance, and the playback control assigned to the project. To change any of the options listed in this area, click the blue text. You can access this by pressing “More”.

When you’re finished applying your desired settings click “Publish” (see the screenshot below).

You have now successfully published a SCORM courses and are ready to upload to Travitor.
